sleep out in Mombo and Little Vumbura

sleep out in Mombo and Little Vumbura
Has anyone done a sleep out in any of the two lodge? I've read that some lodge can set this up if you request in advance. Would like to know if there is an extra charge to set up this up. I think some lodge can set up sleeping accomodations outside of the lodge and other's set it up in hides or sala. Available info is quite vague.

I read somewhere that there is an optional charge for these set-ups. The camps do have to provide staff for security (nearby) during the night to make certain that the animals don't see you as "food."

There is a two-night walking safari offered by Chitabe Camp. You walk about 6 miles and sleep in a fantastic hide on a mattress beneath a mosquito net. The guide and staff are wonderful. This is a Wilderness Safari camp.

Haven't done a sleep out in Bots but I recall some guests doing such at Tubu whilst we were there and enjoying it hugely.
This was in winter and yet they said they were warm and comfortable and that it was a great experience.

I have done lots of sleepouts in Bots and Zim - the best places for this are the camps which offer raised hides (for obvious safety reasons). I've done the uncomfortable 'sleep on the Landie' nights waiting for lion/hyena action next to a buffalo kill but I wouldn't recommed it for the smell and discomfort
Mombo is located within the Moremi Game Reserve and as such, you must be back in your camp soon after sunset. Night activities are not permitted without a permit, so Mombo is out. There aren't any hides in the Vumbura concession that I'm aware of.
As Linda mentions, if you want to try a sleepout, Chitabe has a walking Trail with hides along the route built for sleeping.
My sleepouts in Bots have mostly been while staying at Kings Pool or Savuti. There are quite a few hides there along the Linyanti River (Ingwe hide and the one at Lvingstone's crossing are my favorites) and along the channel which are suited for sleepouts. They'll bring out a sleeping bag and skottel for cooking dinner (and your guide stays with you of course) and you get going early morning on your drive which is the best!
If you're heading up there, ask your agent to request a sleepout in advance.
