SCOPODERM plasters/patches. put behind the ear (equilibrium sense). lasts for 3 days. but by then you have very well adapted to the motion and seldom needs another one.
for 1 week long live-aboard cruising the coral sea or new ireland/new britain we never need more than 1 patch.
quite expensive in europe but worth every cent.

My husband took stemetil to great effect during our Antarctic trip in 2004 and will likely do so again for our return trip this year...

We used scop patches for our trip to Antarctica and they worked well. Now I know why they say the Drake Passage has the roughest seas on the world!

Side effect differ from person to person and so does the effectiveness of the medication.

If I am just idle, I get sleepy with Bonine. But if I am active, then I don't. I often take only half a pill. They are tiny, smaller than a baby orange aspirin.

You could easily take a Bonine before leaving home to see its effects.

Has anybody heard of the patches not working? Everybody I know that has used them swears by them.

Those of us in the dive community use Triptone. It doesn't leave you feeling as groggy as many of the other OTC drugs do and works great.

We got stemetil as a prescription. Not sure whether it's available OTC.
