Sabi Sands areavs Motswari Timbavati area

I'm wondering if the additional cost of going to the Sabi Sands area is worth it compared to the Motswari Timbavati area? Can someone comment on this?

Not to me. I’ve had great experiences in Timbavati and Klaserie as well as Sabi Sand. Yes, people rave about the leopard sightings but I’ve had good leopards everywhere.

There are some more affordable lodges in Sabi Sand. Check out Arathusa, Umkumbe, Elephant Plains, Nottens, Nkorho. Inyati and Idube a little more.

In Timbavati, try Motswari Geiger’s, Kambaku, Senalala (excellent bush walks), nThambo, Africa on Foot.

There are many more but see if any of them interest you. Maybe do a few nights in 2 different lodges in 2 different reserves.

Worth is subjective.

Hi,
I've actually just returned from an amazing safari in the timbavati area. We stayed at ngala (andbeyond property) and it was absolutely amazing. The accommodations are lush, the food is quite good, and the guides and trackers are amazing. The animal sightings were absolutely incredible. We saw the big five within a single day. If you are hoping to spot leopards, I can say it is highly unlikely that you will be disappointed as we had 4 leopard sightings within a three day period, and one sighting was a mother and cub eating their impala kill in a tree. We also saw many elephant, lions, and rhino. Highly recommend and beyond properties in general as no more than 6 people are in the game vehicles and occasionally as few as four. Their guides and trackers are truly first rate.
