queen cleopatra and other Giza restaurant
Wondering if anyone has dined at the Queen Cleopatra Restaurant? How was the quality, pricing, and do they have any entertainment? It appears they have pyramid views. Does anyone have any other dinning suggestions in Giza for dinner. Also, entertainment suggestions in the area.

We enjoyed the Indian Cuisine at the dining room at Oberoi Mena House; others here have enjoyed the Mexican restaurant at the Meridien (yes, Mexican!) and Cristo (on the same street) plus we enjoyed a restaurant between Cristo and the Meridien (I think it was called Casino).

There's always Pizza Hut or KFC!!! (just kidding!)
We enjoyed the Indian restaurant at the Mena House, but for a view during the day, we usually ate at the main Mean House restaurant (can't remember the name).

If the Queen Cleopatra restaurant is the one I'm thinking of - YUK! Double YUK! I'm sure it would be mediocre at best. It might have a pyramid view, but don't even think about it. Really. YUK!
The Khan restaurant at the Mena House is going to have a lovely view of the pyramids and good food - but it will be fairly expensive.
A different choice would be Barry's. He is written up in Fodor's Guide book as a good place to go. I think the place is kinda cool. The food is mediocre and the service can be worse, but if Barry is there, tell him you heard his service isn't very good and he'll probably bend over backwards to prove me wrong. The best part is the VIEW. He has two levels of outdoor dining over looking the pyramids, the Sphinx and you can sit and watch the Sound and Light Show from there very well.
He also serves a cold beer, wine or even cocktails, if you want.
The hardest part is finding him and getting a taxi to take you there. Word is he doesn't pay a commission to drivers for bringing you there, so they may lie and say he is out of business or anything to get to take you somewhere else that is more lucrative for them. All I can tell you is he is in the area where the stables are, and he is over AA Stables. Look him up on the Internet if you want phone numbers and more info on him.
Don't do Queen Cleopatra - that is the sort of place that you'll regret I'm afraid.
If you can skip the view of the pyramids, the best food and ambiance is at Andrea's on the canal road. Best BBQ chicken in Cairo!

By all means I'd be at KFC or Pizza Hut long before I'd go to the Queen Cleopatra restaurant if it's the one I'm thinking of.
I know the one I'm thinking of has the name Cleopatra in it's name, and it's in a relatively new building, but you can see the drapes inside are dirty and yukky, like so many of the kindof yukky restaurants out that way.
I know - OP - give us the address of the one you are asking about and I'll figure out if it is the one I'm thinking of. Seems the only fair thing to do.

Elisabeth_S I have E-mailed you & asked about your husbands back 7 this trip, well we just found out my husband does need back surgery-we are going to hold off till we get back from our glorious trip to Egypt/Jordan. The neurosurgeon gave him an RX for nerve damage in his legs. I have been a nervous wreck about the cost of this trip with Ahmed and the posibility of my husband maybe needing surgery. I hope & pray all goes well as I have been planning this trip for almost 2 years. Thanks for all your help and to all on this site-Chris
