power adaptor on safari

What kind of power adaptor do I need for the wildlife lodges and Serena hotels in Tanzania?

I have a three prong adaptor with rectangular prongs. I was told that some places in Africa still use the older type of British outlet that has three prongs with circular prongs.

What kind of outlets did you come across?

Thanks.

All the places we stayed at in Kenya and Tanzania (including several Serena properties) used the one you have, "a three prong adaptor with rectangular prongs".

So I think you are fine.

All Serena properties in Tanzania use the standard United Kingdom style plugs, but I have heard that some of their properties are starting to phase in the universal outlets. It is always safe to bring something that allows you to plug in 3 devices into 1 outlet, as most rooms do not have more than 1 outlet.

We took a UK PowerStrip that we bought online. Worth every penny. Saved time and worry. Worked great as we had many batteries to recharge.

Can anyone suggest where a canadian could purchase a UK Powerstrip? That is such a great idea as I am sure everyone on a safari will be in need of charging camera batteries when power is available.

We used www.Traveloasis.com
and bought the UK Powerstrips w/surge protection. Also bought a couple of adaptors for the specific countries we were visiting.
