I've heard good things about nomads and sand rivers. Don't recall loliondo. Happy New Year and have a fantastic trip.

We stayed at Sand Rivers last month. It's beautifully situated on a bend on the Rufiji. September should be an optimal time for game viewing. Anything specific you'd like to know?

did you go fly camping in sand rivers? and i guess nothing in particular -- just anything you wish you'd known before you went (or really cool things to look out for).

thanks!

I wish I'd known how hot it gets in Selous in December!

No, we didn't go fly camping. It was too hot (but Sep should be drier and cooler) and I was just getting over a bout of food poisoning (not from their food). The agenda is really flexible and whenever possible, all activities are private for each group. When we left, the camp was pretty full and we didn't see anyone sharing. We didn't go out very much but I really enjoyed the boat ride. It was so peaceful and relaxing being on the river. This is a camp that gets all the little details right, enjoy!

yeah, we'd originally looked at october before I realized I'd melt. I'm hoping it won't be too terribly hot.

Where else did you go?

The rest of our trip was all in Kenya. Our itinerary is posted in my trip report thread http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34920145
