Off again tomorrow....
Just wanted to let you guys know we are off again tomorrow - unfortuantely not Africa, but Alaska. You know, just in case you guys miss me here and wonder where I am!
I have printed out and packed up MyDogKyle's report from Sept - thought that would keep me busy on a week long cruise....
We will be cruising up to Whittier, where my parents - who have started out from central Canada (Winnipeg) in their 35 ft RV - will pick us up. (had to get another mortgage for the gas )
We will spend a few days at Denali NP trying to find wildlife other than mossies, and then a few days down in Homer. Jim and I are going over to Katmai to do a 1/2 day bear view, they don't really start until June 1st but Halo Bay (thanks Lynn, for the write up on it - Imelda sent it to me) promised not to let the bears have calendars so that we may be able to go on May 31st, as we are flying home on June 1st.
I'm so excited!
See you guys in two weeks.

Best wishes for an excellent trip, LyndaS! It's a great time of year for AK; you might even beat the mossies.
Homer & the Kenai Peninsula are fantastic. We took a small boat out of Seward for a day-long wildlife cruise, and it was every bit as memorable as a day on safari. Lots of land and flying beasts (puffins were especially amazing), but the sweetest part was the 2 hours spent in dead quiet at the Aialik Glacier: waters crystal clear and smooth as glass; only noises were the wind and occasional calving of the glacier; and multiple sightings of seals and their newborn pups on ice floes.
We arranged the trip through Kenai Fjords Tours, though I believe that other outfits are also available.

LyndaS,
Have a fantastic trip, which appears to have been a Fodor's group effort.
Say hello to Ursula the bear at Halo Bay if she is around.
You can perfect your Alaska packing list and have it ready for future travels. I am sure hats, gloves, and layers will be in your luggage.
