Norfolk or Stanley?
We are deciding between a 1 night stay at the Norfolk Hotel or the Stanley Hotel. There is about a $50 difference (per room, not person). Anyone have recommendations/preferences?

The Norfolk reflects the era of colonial Africa and certainly does keep the locals at bay and out the way. It's stylish in an old English sense, so if you're up for cucumber sandwiches and tea that is the feeling I had when I stayed there three years ago.
I have (last year) stayed at the Stanley, which I found to be a real African hotel of the local 5 star standard. One aspect that I most enjoyed was the Thorntree cafe and it's location curb-side. Here unlike the Norfolk you have an intimacy with the vibrancy of the city, iy is more a cultural experience while at the same comfortable.
If I were to go back, Stanley gets my vote, it what travel is about.
