My Photo Album/Journal Finally Finished - You all put me to shame, but it's done!
Hi y'all -
Finally... it's done. It's big, with 600+ photos, but compiled of mine and those of two others on the trip. Some are digitals, some 35mm... lots of everything.
Eileen's - marked (E); Susan's - marked (S); mine, well are mine.
More then just game. We also had a number of cultural opportunities and these are very colorful. And we spent some time in Zanzibar, also colorful.
There are lots of interior pictures of the accommodations where we stayed and others (though not nearly as good as those from Eben). Except for the places we stayed... it was shoulder season, and plenty of empty rooms at other camps/lodges, so they let us see what was what and take photos. Only one place we couldn't... only because the small Beit al Chai in Stone Town with only 6-room were all occupied... guests in town for a wedding and the rooms looked like rooms do with lots of open luggage.

I had a Fuji 5100 10X Optical. Not the best, but the price was right, easy to use (a no brainer... though I'm still learning). And for the interior rooms I used my Konica 140Zoom and scanned those in.
Eileen had borrowed her boss' first-entry into Digital (years ago... he's since progressed and is a dynamite photographer) so only 2mg and maybe a 3X Optical. Another friend loaned her the tiniest digital, don't know name, and with only a 4X Optical. But she got some great photos a night... see those of us "partying" at Skybeds. She had nothing on her screen, just point and click and joila... pretty good photos. And she also had a 35mm APS which discs I uploaded.
Susan, used only her tried and true 35mm - I believe a Minolta with big lens (200 or better).
Now, you all know why it took me so long to pull these together!

Thanks so much for posting those marvelous pictures. The cheetah experience must have been awesome! And see, I'm not the only one with snake experiences! My babies at Sheldrick Trust - what can I say? You've given me my fix until I get there next month.

Thank you for documenting with so many photos your safari. Very interesting to see the contrasts between East Africa and Southern Africa.
Your effort to upload so many photos is really appreciated...I have a hard time just uploading 100 photos so 600+ is a real treat to see.
The cheetah on the vehicle is really cool!

Love the lion interaction shots, and the rhinos and eles at the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage are tooo adorable, poor darlings, you have some wonderful portraits of the people you met with excellent exposure on their bright red clothes and rich chocolate skin tones, the smiling school kid portraits are also very endearing, I'm so envious of that cheetah on your vehicle, how exciting that must have been?!

I looked at every single one, so thanks for taking the time to share these.
My favorites: the stork contemplating a dip in the pool, the crane preparing to take flight, the three date trees, and the Mennonites enjoying the cheetah on their vehicle.

Wow--WHAT a trip!
I love the ones of you and your friends blithely drinking sundowners with a cheetah on the car. When that happened to us I thought I was going to jump right out of my skin. Sandi, you have nerves of steel.
If you don't get around to a trip report, I'd love to hear, even briefly, about highlights, lowlights (if any--doesn't look like it), more about Lake Victoria (i.e., how long was the drive from Kirawira, would you return, etc.), and how Eileen enjoyed her first? trip to East Africa.
Loved the photos, glad I saved most of them for today. Great to see all the smiling faces, especially yours.

Thank you so much Sandie for sharing these. I loved looking at them all. If I ever have a cheetah contact like that I will be in raptures!! The skybeds were not how I had imagined them but look fantastic. I think I need one at home!

I'm glad you all enjoyed. We certainly did. Yes, that cheetah experience was something and two days in a row... couldn't get any better.
Jan - that snake photo was especially for you, but that's the only snake we've ever seen on any trip... and it was, thankfully, dead by the time we saw it. And, of course, your Ellee babies. In all my visits, this was the first time at Sheldrick... my previous schedules never allowed for it. Glad we made the time for it this trip.
Leely - we flew to/from Kirawira, but on a previous visit we drove from Ngorongoro to Kirawira w/ a stop at Serena Seronera for lunch and freshening up. From the Serena at Seronera it's only about 2-hrs, not bad.
Eben - yes, an Easy Rider. I'd prefer that if I had my choice, but the camel was an experience. Don't dare mention the sexual comments on our return to Sabuk. Tamsin, the manager here was rolling with laughter. Everyone should do this at least once.
Jules - The starbeds are absolutely amazing with only the sky and all those stars above. Another thing one should experience, even if only one night. And the Samburu staff here are delightful and lots of fun.
Roccco - Thanks for the tips re using KodakGallery... so much easier when you know what you think you're doing.
Kavey - I've got a long way to go to produce photos as you have, but I'm working on it. What was so wonderful this time was our extended time with the local people - Samburu, Masai, White Kenyans and even ex-pats.
Eileen absolutely was like a kid in a candy store... all so new, different and exciting. I'm sure I can count on her for a return visit, as she walks around with a mini-album of photos and shows to everyone. She's hooked.
I'm glad you've all enjoyed. Now, I've got to concentrate on my Journal, part of which will eventually be posted. Can you hear me Patty?

163, 190, 257 (just captured so much genuine fun), 259 (great angle and colours), 268 (great portrait), 283 (not quite sharp but wonderful lighting), 334, 348, 350 (wow), 463, 536, 596, 597.
And there are a lot more that I'd include if they were more accurately in focus.
