Morocco 10 day Itinerary

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking some advice regarding my trip to Morocco next Feb.

How does this itinerary look? I know it's a bit rushed, but I really don't want to miss out on Marrakesh, Desert Tour and Chefchaoeun...

Arrival Casablanca (6am flight arrival) (0 nights)
Train to Marrakkesh immediately (3 nights)
Depart for Desert Tour from Marakkesh to Fes (2 nights)
Stay in Fes (1 night)
Depart Fes for Chefchaeoun (2 nights)
Depart Chefchaeoun for Casablanca (1 night)
Depart Casablanca for hoem (8am flight)

Thanks!
Kevin

Alternatively, I could also book a flight arriving directly in Marrakesh and leaving back home from Casablanca. The alternative itinerary would be:

Arrival Marrakkesh (2pm flight arrival) (3 nights)
Depart for Desert Tour from Marakkesh to Fes (2 nights)
Stay in Fes (1 night)
Depart Fes for Chefchaeoun (2 nights)
Depart Chefchaeoun for Casablanca (1 night)
Depart Casablanca for hoem (8am flight)

I would plan on getting around via bus/train. Dont plan on renting a car. Desert tour would be with a tour guide/tour operator.

This is approximately how it will look without stops along the way:

Arrive Marrakech midday. 3 nights = 2 1/2 days.
Leave for "desert", travel day 13 hours. 2 nights=1 full day.
Drive to Fes, travel day 9-10 hours. 1 night = 0 full days.
Drive to Chefchaouen, 3-4 hours. 2 nights = 1 1/2 days.
Chefchaouen to Casa, travel day, 1 night = 0 days.

That seems very unsatisfactory to me. Since you state your priorities I don't know how to advise you to make it better.

I could cut out Chefchaouen ....as I've read the weather there in February might not be the best?

The desert camp-out is the real time consumer. As your plan appears to be for 9 nights, you don't have 10 full days on the ground, but 8. So using 2 of them to get to a tent to spend 1 day doesn't seem like the best use of the few days you have.
Since something needs to go, I'd make it that.

But if you drop Chefchaouen you'd have, excluding travel days:

Marrakech 2 1/2 days (3 nights)
Desert 1 day (2 nights)
Fes 2 days (3 nights)
1 night in Casa.

Better, though still unsatisfactory to me, but maybe alright for you.

As it is you would only be spending a few waking hours in Fez. I would definitely drop Chefchaouen, then add another night on the sand dunes trip and another night in Fez.

Have you looked at the logistics/prices of the sand dunes trip? A private 4x4 tour will take you to Fez but the 'sardine minibus' tours tend to return to Marrakech.
