meaning of yad vashem pin
Just returned from Israel. I bought a memorial pin at Yad Vashem, but didn't realize I bought one with the explanation in French. Can anyone tell me the exact meaning of the design? It seems to be an olive branch wrapped in barbed wire, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

You can see the memorial pin you bought with the English text at this page: http://secure.yadvashem.org/store/pr...?productid=347
The text is: Remembering the past, Shaping the future.

Copying from my pin - on the inside it tells you what Yad V'shem is and what its' mission is. If you really want me to copy that--write back and I will. On the back it explains the pin-it says,
" The barbed wire stem recalls the pain and trauma of the Holocaust, while the leaves stemming from the wire symbolize the rebirth and hope that emerged in the wake of this unparalled tragedy. Wearing this pin expresses your commitment to remembering the past in order to ensure a better future for our children."
