Last 3 nights in S Africa -- Where to stay?
Looking for recommendations for our last 3 nights in SA.
On Nov 30 and Dec 1, we're staying at Mt. Camdeboo game preserve outside Graaff-Reinet. We need bookings for Dec 2, 3, 4.
Our flight to Paris leaves Cape Town just before.midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 5. We'll turn in our rental car at the airport.
Initially I planned 1 night on the road (Matjiesfontein?) and 2 nights at a Cederberg mountain resort.
But now I'm thinking the Cederberg experience might just duplicate the feel of the Graaff-Reinet/Valley of Desolation semi-desert. I like rugged scenery -- but might the sameness pall?
(We will already have spent some time in CT, then 2 nights outside Ladismith in the Klein Karoo and 4 nights at Plettenberg Bay.)
What would you do with these 3 nights and 4 full days, Dec 2-5 inclusive?

What about the Winelands -somewhere like Stellenbosch? you mention that you will have spent some time in CT, but though they can be done as a day trip, I think that you would get a lot more out of them by staying there for a couple of nights, and they are close enough for you to drive to the airport on your last day.
You could still overnight at Matjiesfontein if that's what you want to do.
It sounds like a wonderful trip.

The Winelands are a possibility.
I don't drink ...but I do like historic estates, such Vergelegen and Boschendal, which we visited last year.
The gastronomy alone would justify a trip, of course.

Gardyloo: Interesting option.
When researching a Cederberg stay, I thought of routing via Paternoster and the Park on our way back to CT on Dec. 5!
Wolfgat restaurant in Paternoster is closed that day, alas. Lunch or dinner there was high on my dining list.
