Great guide for Cairo and shopping tips!!!!
We returned two weeks ago from a 15 day trip to Egypt . I just want to thank everyone on the Fodor's board for telling me about Debbie Sentors with Casusal Cairo tours. I contacted her and she was so helpful with all my questions about planning our Egypt trip - even though she knew I was using a tour company for our trip.
We had a guided tour with Global Gate vacations but we had a couple of free days so I asked her about taking us shopping - since there were 4 women and we love to shop. That was a great decision. Egypt is a great place for shopping - shoes- knock off brand purses- jewelry- clothing- along with all the other touristy things. Debbie was fantastic. She took us places we would have never found on our own and made it so much fun. She was also helpful with getting us good prices and quality. We really enjoyed her. If you need a guide around Cairo then be sure to look her up. She has all sorts of tours - including cooking lessons - and it will be the best money you can spend. She's American so there's no language problem - like we encountered with some of the local guides. She's also a lot of fun to be around and her prices are very reasonable. I'd love to go back to Egypt and if I ever do - I will be sure to book some time with Debbie.

Percy, did you survive the 106 degrees in Luxor? We're going to Egypt in August and I'm very nervous (although I've survived Palm Springs and Phoenix in 110+). August wouldn't be our first choice, of course, but our son and his girlfriend will be a the end of a year working in Uganda, and are returning to the US in September.
I'm going to get in touch with Debbie.
