Hi fellow travellers,
We are off to South Africa, Rwanda , Tanzania finishing up in Zanzibar next Jan/Feb. We need to get from Johannesburg to Kigali . Not keen on Rwanda Air ,did hear that South African airways were considering a direct flight but they said ring back in November . It is a risk as we have our Gorilla permits and don't want to miss out. Have thought it may be best to fly to Nairobi and then across to Kigali. Hopefully someone out there will have some suggestions.

Rwanda Air is not a bad airline. I would fly them. Routing via Nairobi may be more expensive.

The cost difference is very minimal and if we stayed overnight in Nairobi vs Johannesburg it would be cheaper.

We flew Rwandair from Nairobi to Kigali in 2008 when we went to see the gorillas and had no problems. Would use them again. Have a great trip! The gorillas are amazing!
