ELEPHANT PEPPER CAMP
We may be staying here in September this year but cannot find many reviews from travellers. We would like to know about the quality of the game drives/quantity of game in that area and whether there is any water nearby for possible sightings of hippo, crocs etc. Many thanks

You probably found the thread from HLester (or HLester3) who stayed here last season with her twin 5/yr olds. They loved it... the tents, the management, meals and the guides.
We visited here in 2005 and also very much enjoyed our stay. A different management couple and their 3/yr old son who had been with the camp for about 5/yrs were outstanding.
This past season, the tents have all been redone, adding a family and honeymoon tent. The camp is located on private lands, so night game drives are done and we has outstanding drives; also their bush meals are fun and delicious - out on the Mara plains (perfectly safe). The camp isn't far from the Mara River, where you will find hippos, crocs and other waterlife. It's very likely during September there will be thousands of wildebeests and zebra, probably right outside your tents (no guarantees, of course... these are animals), but EPC is a great choice.

Hi. Like Sandi said, we really enjoyed out time there. We had a great view outside of your tent of the wildbeast. I woke up one night sure there were elephants on the other side of the tent, thinking they were going to trample through any minute, but it turned out to just be a herd of zebra eating the brush around the tents. I was the only one who woke up. My dad was in the tent next door and he had his window flaps up so he was able to identify what was there in the morning.
They also have short walking safaris down to the river. The kids still talk about their walking safari, since they got to see a dung beetle. They were very professional with the walking safari and sent one of the guides to go and check the river where they were going to walk before they went to make sure there was nothing dangerous down there. It turned out that there were some buffolo there so they just walked around the exterior of the camp.
Of the three camps we stayed in on our safari, this one was by far our favorite. Of course we have only stayed in three camps in Africa, so I do not have that much experience. Our driver also told us that Little Gov. was also an excellent camp.
The mara was our last camp and we had not had any luck at the previous camps seeing any lions. We saw lions and cubs everyday when we were there, and they were not very far from camp. The arranged for us to go and see the Rhino in a specially protected area, where they have rangers that live with to watch protect it.
I think one of the things we liked most about the camp was the laid back atmospher. They looked as though they really enjoyed being out there.
I you would like to give me your e-mail I would be happy to e-mail you some pictures. I will see if I can post a link. The pictures are on Costco, so I don't know if will let me.
