electric devices

Do I need an electrical converter if staying at a fine hotel? I have a flat iron from Sweden with three prongs. Will that work in South Africa?

I have found a lot of variability in the sockets available at hotels in South Africa.
The SA 3-prong is different.
Sometimes the hotels have N outlets that allow the use of European C 2-plug.

You will probably need an adapter. You will not need a converter.

I wasn't aware that Sweden had electrical devices with 3 pronged plugs, certainly none of my Swedish appliances have. They won't work in ZA without an adapter. UK 3 pronged plugs work fine in ZA without adapters however that depends on the hotel as some don't have sockets that fit UK plugs and ZA 3 prongs are different to UK ones.
