Egypt: Suggestions for what to do afternoon around Giza
I am taking a 10 day tour of Egypt and I will spend 3 nights in Mena House.
I will arrive cairo a day before the tour around noon and then go to Mena House hotel. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to spend the afternoon? The tour goes to the below tourist spots so am looking for some suggestions on other things to do on my own.
Arrival day: afternoon free
Day 1: Sakkara: Pyramids and tombs including Step Pyramid of Zoser; Lunch then the three pyramids of giza and sphinx; solar boat museum
Day 2: Cairo Museum, Old Islaamic and Christian cario (hanging church, Mohammed Citadel, Alabaster Mosque and Kahn El Kahalili bazaar)
Day 3 morning free and travel to Luxor after lunch.
Thanks.

The pool sounds good to me too but another alternative would be to go to the Cairo museum on the first day. Personally I don't like using guides in the museum so for me it's an ideal thing to do on your own. IMHO day two has too much crammed into it and this way it would be a little more manageable.
You could also consider contacting Debbie from Casual Cairo and spending a half day with her.

If you are looking to do some interesting things in Cairo, I alsosuggest contacting Debbie Senters of Casual Cairo Detours. she posts here as Casual_Cairo, and many people on Fodors have used her and been very happy.

Thanks. I also thought of doing the Cairo museum as I have read that it is great and one of the tour reviews said only 1 1/2 hours was allotted. typically if I go to a museum I could spend at least twice that.
Or, getting a tour of one of the neighborhoods which aren't covered.

Thanks for the suggestion Motaz, I am doing a sound and light show at another site on tour so was not sure I wanted to do 2. I was doing more research and thought about trying to squeeze in a ride to al-fayoum oasis. Not sure I will have enough time.
