Comfortable Shoes for Women
I also posted this in the Asia site:
A couple of years ago I saw a similar thread on the Europe forum so thought I would post here.
Let's start a list of favorite comfort shoes for women.
I have a pair of Joseph Seibels that are fiarly ugly but oh so comfortable. Quite expensive but worth it.
I also have a very comfortable pair of Rott slides that I can wear for hours but the dye on the inside turns my feet black. Yuck! I still love them and I can wear them with skirts as well as capris.
I swear by Tevas. They are ugly but great near the beach or for short hikes. I wouldn't wear them in the city.
I am especially interested in hearing about comfy shoes that you can wear with a skirt.
Zappos.com is a great site with great service.

Because of my hip problem I have worn walking boots as my daily footwear for a few years now. The pair I have been wearing for the last 2+ years are Brasher Supalites and I adore them - infact, now that my current pair are finally wearing out after 2+ years of daily use I just bought another identical pair.
They are boots not shoes but unlike many walking boots, don't need breaking in, they feel like heaven as soon as you put them on.
For Sandals I like the ones Clark's used to make but they've changed the design now so not so keen.

SAS shoes are super comfy and are available either online or at non-discount shoe stores. They're not cheap, but very comfortable. Some of them look like granny shoes, but others are slip ons and are quite nice. For stability and comfort, they're hard to beat!

with the caveat that "there are no best shoes for everyone, just shoes that are best for your feet" ...
Dansko sandals for walking
ditto earth shoes, but it does take time for some people to get used to them--these are very good for my back
for hiking when you can wear sandals (sometimes in africa) Keen sandals, especially those with the toe guard/bumper
tevas when you are around water--beaches, paddling, etc.
a new fave, murtosas for city walking
Mephistos, depending on your feet and arches
for city walking, arche are nice too.
I love comfortable shoes, and don't really care if they are ugly1

My favorite sandals are Chaco's. They are the "least ugly" ones I could find. I bought the ones without the toe-loop so I could wear them with socks (much to the dismay of my daughter - but once it warms up, the socks come off!). They are for both men and women and I've seen many people wearing them. Very comfy.

Fav: Zeeta. Wore them all over Europe. Uneven pavement, marble or parquet floors, it didn't matter; my feet felt great at the end of the day. They wear well and some styles work great with skirts. I have the Tia style in 4 colors.

I agree with whoever said SAS. They can look like old lady shoes, but they are the only walking sandals I have found that you can get in various widths. I have really narrow feet - and these do the trick!
And there is one style that is actually pretty cute with skirts. Yep, they are pretty pricey, but so worth it for comfort. They have taken me all over Europe a few times.

I broke down and purchased a pair of Mephisto sandals about 12 years ago. I've now got those original sandals (re-corked once), a pair of "dressy" slip on sandals, tennis shoes and nice black flats for work/out/travel. Wear the black flats at the office all the time now and took them on 3 week trip. I love 'em as you can tell. They're horridly expensive but when you have a pair that's lived for 12 years happily it works out.
also have a pair of Chaco's that I love but find I need to toughen up the feet to wear them. I tried Ecco's but found they didn't have the support I needed.

I am totally in love with Keen Sandles. My husband and I both have them and we have worn them on several trips. I like the fact that they are sandles with protection when you stub your foot on a rock.
I just bought some of their slip ons but I have not worn them very much yet.
I have a very old pair of SAS shoes that my mom gave me many years ago and other than the fact that they are kind of ugly they are really comfortable and sturdy.
