Been to Tunisia?

How was it? Would you recommend it for a week in February? I have been talking to TunisUSA tour company. Sounds very interesting.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry.Didn't read your message til now.Tunisia is a fascinating place, keen on tourism and progressively Islamic.Beach resorts and hotels are fantastic. Many Germans and French visit there. Read Gina's recommendations on tunisia. She was there on 09-11. Make your own decisions, but as a vacation destination as of last March, I would highly recommend it. Feb. would be in the off season with pleasant temps. and far fewer tourists. Book, go and enjoy...

We enjoyed a beach holiday a while ago, although we got upset tummies (a common experience in Tunisia), lovely people, great beaches and good weather. February might be not so hot. We stayed near Monastir - a town well worth a visit - it is where Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' was filmed!

How can one avoid tummy upset? Booked to go to Tunisia next April and as my tummy is a bit sensitive I'm a bit apprehensive.

Tammy hi! Just came back from Tunisia (Djerba) two weeks ago. Incidentally, there is not that much one can do about an upset tummy.
I was sick one day. Nothing dramatic, just annoying. I am an experienced traveller in all kind of countries, and still, sometimes it happens. Never had a problem though in India. It just happens, even if you avoid salads, too many fruit, too cold drinks or juices, etc.
When it happens: Drink a small glass of Ricard (French anisette aperitif) without water or ice. It works, believe me!
Make sure you drink enough black tea or Coke and start slowly to eat cooked carrots, rice, mashed potatoes, etc. No spicy food for one or two days!

Hi Tammy,

Don't know if you're still checking for replies to your Oct. post, but on the "tummy upset" issue: one big reminder I'd offer is *don't* eat unpeeled fruit! I knew this caveat, I'd traveled a lot before, but in the hotels in which I stayed on this trip I got a lot of gorgeous fruit plates sent to my room by hotel mgmt., as I was there on business. Somehow I neglected to remember that, four- or five-star hotel or no, I should still peel said fruit. I felt fine throughout the trip (8 days), but almost as soon as I got home had some digestive issues that kept me running to the restroom every five minutes for about a week. So...peel that fruit!
