Airfare in November-Does it drop?

Does airfare typically go down for travel in November? I'm looking at about an $1800 SFO-LHR-Livingstone fare at the beginning of November. When I booked my March trip to Lusaka, the fares went down the next month, naturally, (and for less than I paid on BA for traveler class, I could have gotten traveler plus) I've checked all the sites and $1800 is about average if I bought now.
Thanks for your help!

Dennis, Nationwide Airlines is an excellent source for budget flights. They currently have a special for only R4100 ($668) per person for a round-trip flight from London Gatwick to Johannesburg. While this special only runs until March 31st, it may be a good indicator of what to expect for Nov. 2006. Maybe not $668 per person, but perhaps $850 per person. More than likely you can fly from San Francisco to London in November for under $500, and then pick up a r/t flight to Livingstone for about $250, for a total of $1600. While not a huge savings, for two people it is a $400 savings.

Keep an eye on Nationwide Airlines.

Hi Dennis,

You will probably get a better deal if you wait.

I was able to buy a ticket from SFO-LHR for a relative who lives in SF for about $500 (departing on November 24 and returning on December 2). I bought the ticket around mid-October.

Tickets from LHR-JNB tend to run between £375-500 ($650-$850) throughout the year. In the autumn, Virgin, SAA, and BA often run sales to Joburg. SAA and Virgin generally have the best fares.

Airline tickets are priced based on outbound date, so if you leave in early November you have a good chance at getting a good price. Autumn is not a popular time to got to SA here, but prices will shoot up around December 15 as that's when schools let out and the entire country goes on holiday.

Cheers,
Julian

Dennis -

Contact Premier Tours (located in Phila, PA) at:

www.premiertours.com

a tour operator, but with a consolidator air department. If you click on their air dept, you'll see prices, but they're not current.

I've used Premier for tickets only and have traveled in November. There have been deals every year, that I know of, since 2000 for lower prices between October - December 15. Contact them - they have an 800# and speak directly with one of their reps. Maybe they can help out for flight to JNB and then the Lusaka/Livinstone leg.

It's only a phone call. Let us know if this works.
