Accommodation recommendations for Joburg and Cape Town

Am planning last minute trip to South Africa end of October this year, have been to both JNB and CPT before for business but not for holiday.

In Joburg we plan to stay in Sandton or Rosebank since I've been before but the hotels that I had previously stayed in are really expensive so am looking for a B&B but unsure which are closest to Sandton Shopping centre.

For Cape Town we are planning couple nights in CPT itself and then go to Hout Bay and find self catering accommodation in this area. We will be renting a car.

Would like to receive recommendations for accommodation and what kind of weather to expect? I last visited in June and September so cold mornings but sunny and warm during the day.

Thank you.

There's an inexpensive chain of self-catering hotels in Jo'burg called the Don. We've stayed a couple of times at the Don Rosebank, but there are also one or two Dons in Sandton, I think. They're not upscale, but are very roomy, and well cared for.

From the Don Rosebank you can easily walk to the Rosebank shopping area.

Have a great time!

Whilst Hout Bay is nice there are other very nice areas to stay on the False Bay side, such as Clovelly, St. James, Kalk Bay & Simons Town.

If you're interested in B&Bs, I stayed at a very nice, clean, inexpensive one in Capetown that I highly recommend - Parker Cottage (http://www.parkercottage.co.za/). If you book with them, tell Phil I said hi.

I was there in October and the weather was fabulous - not too hot, not too cold and no rain. We were able to go to the top of Table Mountain and see forever!

Have a great trip!

In early 2009 we stayed at a B&B near Sandton called Cape Elegance (http://www.portfoliocollection.com/g...e-in-Bryanston ). The owners were delightful, the setting very pretty, convenient location, nice clean accommodation and lovely breakfast.
