A Hui Hou- 24 Hours and I'm Off to Africa!

24 hours and I'm on my way! Bags are packed (duffel weighs 16#, backpack weighs 10#), nothing left to do but pace! Lost 8# in preparation for another African feeding frenzy and bought shorts with elastic waistbands just in case. Thanks to Julian and Rocco @ DestinyAfrica for putting the second part of the trip together, first part was from a Luxury Link auction. Itinerary:
Hilo to Oakland- overnight in S.F, dinner with step-mom
SFO to LHR- lunch with Julian and Mandy
LHR-JNB-Livingstone-overnight at Ilala Lodge in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
2 nights at Islands In Africa's Ntwala Camp
3 nights at Islands In Africa's Susuwe Camp
Both of these are on the Caprivi Stip in Namibia
4 nights at Somalisa Camp, Hwange, Zimbabwe
1 night Victoria Falls Hotel
Fly to JNB-LHR-SFO and 2 nights in S.F, visit with family then back to Hilo, Hawaii.
Will try to check in and of course a trip report when I return.
Take care all, talk to you when I get back!
A hui hou and Aloha

Dennis, that's some trip - enjoy and take a hatful of photos. The only trip I've got coming up soon is a cold and wet week in Southern England midway through November... still lunch perhaps with Julian in London will make it more bareable...

Happy trails

Looks like a very interesting itinerary -- I don't even know where some of those camps are.

I'm really looking forward to feedback on Hwange.

Have a great trip, Michael

You go Dennis. Can't keep a good guy home once he's had a taste of Afree-kah!

Apologize to Julian for the pot he stirred when he wasn't even around to have anything to do with it.

Have a WONDERFUL animal-filled trip, Dennis - can't wait to read about the camps that I hadn't heard of before this! Will you still do the Lion Walk?

Aloha Dennis,

Have a wonderful trip. Any time I hear someone complain about the looooong flight to Africa I think of how far you have to travel. But I think we all agree that it's worth it!

Have a great trip!

And by the way, it would be hard to find a spot more distant from Vic Falls than Hilo: according to the great circle mapper, it's 12,307 miles!!
