32 hours to wait

I'll be leaving for the airport in a short 32 hours. I have to be at the airport at 3:30 AM Wednesday for the flight to ATL. I had planned on having the taxi swing by the only starbuck's that is open 24 hrs and just discovered it's closed for remodeling that morning. bummer. The airport shops won't even be open before the flight leaves at 5:30.

I'm off for a 17 night trip to the Falls in Zambia, mobile camping in the Delta, Chobe and the Kalahari. It is photography safari with a pre-set itinerary. It's a small group (4 or 5 participants plus 2 instructors) and everyone gets their own row of seats so I hope to get some good pictures. It's been 105 and 108 degrees here the last couple of days and I'm sure hoping it will be cooler there because I'm a wimp. A friend of a friend just returned from Zambia and he sent me a message through his friend to make sure I had plenty of Ambien just for sleeping at night. He said it was way too hot.

I'll blame this trip on all of you because all of your trip plannings and trip reports keeps that little Africa bug alive. Every year I say to myself that I'll skip Africa this year. Thankfully it hasn't happened yet.

"See" all of you in a few weeks.

Cindy

Cindy ~ Yes, have a fabulous trip. Many of us will be very interested in the photo excursion and how it went. May we ask with whom you're going?

I blame my current afflictions on this forum, as well... >

Bon voyage!!!

One of the photographers leading the safari is Charles Glatzer and the other is James Stachecki (who is also a conservation biologist). They are both award winning photographers and in charge of "All photographic instruction; metering-comprehensive instruction , flash-theory, TTL and manual, Visual Design-creating images with Visual Impact, exposing for the digital image, along with discussion on workflow, postproduction and so much more."

The safari company they have chosen is http://www.gametrailsbotswana.com/.

I'm really looking forward to this trip and hope to learn alot.

You'll learn a lot from Chas. I've had the benefit of his advice.

Have a great trip -- your itinerary sounds amazing.

I'm really looking forward to your notes when you return, especially on the Kalahari, since there's not a lot of reports on that area in this forum, and we'll be visiting Kgalagadi next year (which should be similar to the Kalahari).

Have a safe, fun trip!
