Zip-off pants that are lower waisted?
I've tried to find convertible pants that I like, but they all seem so high waisted, which I just don't find comfortable (or particularly flattering on me). I thought this board might be a good place to ask - has anyone found a pair of comfortable zip-offs that sit below waist?

I've never seen any. I think the flattering part may not be a priority with that particular style of pants.

Give Campmor a try and REI. they both have tons of convertible pants and longs.

Convertible pants do not make a fashion statement.
Regular twill (or lt weight cotton) khaki pants will serve just as well; toss in a pair of shorts, if need to. The Gap, Old Navy, Target all carry these and inexpensive. |
I tried some on in REI last summer. I believe they were the Denali style. They were lower waisted. I decided I didn't need another pair so didn't actually buy them but they were definately lower.

The North Face Paramount women's convertibles sit below the waist.
I bought some, but didn't like the low waist, so changed them for a pair of men's - which have a higher waist. |
Althom,
This just goes to show that it is a difference of opinion that makes the world go around. I've got a pair of convertible pants that I've never worn because they are low waisted and I can't keep my shirt tucked in. (I got them online on sale from a discounter, and couldn't return them). I can't tell from your name if you are a man or a woman...but if you can use a pair of new women's size 10 I'd be glad to send them for free. |
I find the Prana brand of yoga clothing to be very flattering and lower waisted. I have 2 great pairs of rollup cargo pants from them which worked very well for me....but I don't know if they make zip-offs.

Hey Ann -
If althom doesn't want them - I would love to have them!! I prefer lower-waisted too and haven't found them near where I live. |
kareng, if you want to give me your email address to get your snail mail address, I'll send them to you.

Hi Ann
If kareng doesn't contact you soon I am also interested in the convertible pants. You can email me at [email protected] Thanks |
I went to Africa for almost a month, and I don't think I ever unzipped the legs from my 2 convertibles. They were so light weight that they were very comfortable with the legs on, and I brought a pair of shorts for when I wanted shorts.

Ann - that woould be wonderful! My family of five includes three daughters and three of us can wear a 10, so I would really appreciate it! My e-mail address is [email protected].

I've got just the ticket! Aeropostale brand used to have some low rise pants that can be roled up and buttoned at three different lengths. A cousin of mine gave me some "hand me downs" so I'm not sure how old they are. They look like they're still in style! Anyway, they are major comfortable. Hope this helps and isn't too late!

Wingi is right about the Northface Paramount Porter pants. Also try Northface's Meridian and Gramicci's Vagabond Venture, both of which sit below the waist and have a bit of a flared bottom. The flared bottom makes them a little more stylish, but more importantly, makes the zip off bottoms easier to get on and off if you have boots on. The two Northface styles also come in regular and long lengths.
Try Sierra Trading Post. Several lower waist styles were on sale, although that was a few months ago. |
