Zimbabwe visa
 

We are on the final leg of organising our trip even though we still have 87 sleeps to go before we leave. Hopefully it will go quickly. Before the Botswana leg of our trip we are going to Victoria Falls for a couple of days, to rest after our flight from Sydney Australia and take in a few activities. Our TA has recommended that we get the Zimbabwe visa before we go but I have read that we can get them on arrival in Zimbabwe. Has anybody flown into Victoria Falls Airport lately and got a visa on arrival. Was it easy, the experience good or bad? Which way should I go? It is just a hassle applying for visas here and they are double the price compared to what we will pay for a Zimbabwe visa on arrival into the country. Thanks.

I know this post is alittle old - what did you end up doing about the visa. We leave in about 6 weeks for Africa (also Australians), and are wondering what to do about the visas. We are going to Vic Falls for 2 nights from Johannesburg. The web seems to have very little detail.

We just returned 3 weeks ago. Yes, you can get a visa at the airport in Victoria Falls and save money, but you can save long hot wait by having it in advance. The BA flights from Johannesburg are on 737s. If you are near the back of the plane, you can be in for a very long wait in temperatures in the 100s F. Our group of 16 all had visas in advance and were brought to a separate passport control desk and processed reasonably quickly. By our estimation, it could have taken an hour to get through the visa processing.

Jack and Ann may have benefitted from being part of a group. When we arrived in August it was pretty chaotic -- while there was a separate passport control desk supposedly earmarked for those who already had visas, they were also selling visas in that line, so both lines were equally long. (We needed to buy visas but were sent to that line by an airport employee.) I did see a couple of groups benefit from being pulled aside and walked through -- but I don't think you could bypass the queue as individuals.
