Zimbabwe in November???

How's Zimbabwe in November? Hot? Rainy? Mosquitos? Where should we stay in Vic Falls for a "honeymoon experience"? Which parks are the best in northwestern Zim? Where can we see rhinos? Help!

You are choosing a wonderful and memorable place for a honeymoon (or honeymoon experience)! The weather in Zimbabwe in November is hot and dry. Rains start at the end of November. Temperatures will be in the range of 30 - 40 degrees Celcius, depending upon which part of the country you are visiting. You can never get away from the Mosquitos, however they won't be so bad as it will be the dry season.

For Victoria Falls, I would recommend either Elephant Hills Hotel or Ilala Lodge. While the Elephant Hills is larger than I normally like, it is a wonderful place and they provide you with all the ameneties needed. It is set high on a hill overlooking the Zambezi River. Sometimes you can see the spray from the Falls. It is an eyesore from far away, but once inside, it is a majestic experience. The rooms surround a manmade waterfall that tends to lull one to sleep. (they turn the waterfalls off at night not to disturb too many people) The rooms are very nice, the pool and setting is stunning, the food is great and the service is impeccable. They also have a beautiful golf course where you can see game and play golf at the same time. It is a bit far from the town of Victoria Falls, but they have a shuttle service that is most convenient. You never have to leave the hotel, except to visit the Falls. The Ilala Lodge is a smaller, exclusive hotel located right in town. All rooms open onto the natural bush of the game park. The food there is also wonderful. Ilala Lodge's telephone # is 00 263 13 4737 and Elephant Hills is 00 263 13 47935. While there, you must do a Zambezi River Booze Cruise. You get to see quite a bit of game and see the sunset while drinking a cocktail and sitting on a boat. I highly recommend this experience

You can find white Rhinos at the Lake Chivero National Park outside Harare. Black Rhinos may be spotted in the Victoria Falls area.

The Northwestern game park I would suggest is the Matusa National Park and you can stay at Spurwing Island or Fothergill Island.

Other things I would recommend include a three day canoo Safari trip down the Zambezi. Again, a majestic experience. Contact the Shearwater Safaris company in Harare at 00 263 47 57831

Good Luck and Enjoy!!!!
