I'd actually considered Zim for this year's trip but decided to go to Namibia instead. I'd checked into charter costs and was quoted $950 one way (per plane) from Harare to Mana Pools and was curious if it was cheaper to fly from Vic Falls. I'm surprised it's that much less given the distance doesn't seem that different. Thanks!

You out there Dennis,
I can't find your report and would love to know who your guide was at Somailisa. Do you have a tent # as well to rec.
I'm tent. booked for now.
Thanks;
Sherry

CONGRATULATIONS Sherry! You're going to love Somalisa! I'm thinking of going back next year.

We had Foster as our guide, though he is no longer with them. You could ask to see if Benson, Foster's brother will be in camp at that time, he's equally as fun and knowledgable and one of the top guides in Zimbabwe. He fills in at Somalisa at times. If you can get him, you'll be very happy. The host/hostess are new from last year and don't know anything about them, but since Beks and Sophia chose them, they must be good.

Can't remember the tent number, but it was the one farthest from the dining area.

Who operates your 3 night Mana Pools Canoe Trip? Is there any concern of them running out of business due to the current situation in Zim?

Thanks Dennis - it's a bit different but close - I'm waitlisted at Planet Baobob and changed from Ziblianga to Selinda.

bnws930,
Wilderness is running my canoe trip. As for concerns, I feel comfortable with the fact that if all hell breaks lose in Zimb. (what are the odds) that Wilderness will let us bale (that part of our trip is in the beginning) or will be forced transfer us to another sight.
Here's an instance where it may help by booking with the big boys.

Sherry, be sure to make time to stop off at the Painted Dog Conservancy. It's right outside the Hwange airport. Ask your guide to stop. Very interesting and guaranteed dog sightings!
