Hi Marina,

Sandi is correct about the lunches at Pongwe. They are extra but available and quite delicious, as are all the meals.

The cove in front of Pongwe is white sand with a few grass patches. The water was quite warm in the afternoons...bathtub temperature! I didn't go out to the reef, as it was quite a ways out. One afternoon I decided to snorkel a bit in front of the lodge. I discovered that you can see quite a bit if you look closely, as it's a nursery area...small fish, shrimp, shells, etc. I had great fun drifing around for a couple of hours. There were some small jellyfish, too, though. You have to watch out for those, sometimes. If you want great snorkeling, I think you'd have to go up the coast to the Matemwe/Mnemba area. Pongwe could set this up for you as a day trip.
