Zanzibar

Hi there,

I am going on my honemoon to Tanzania and Zanzibar in June/July 2006. I was hoping to get some suggestions for romantic places to stay on Zanzibar.I have heard Breezes is nice and was wondering if others had any advice.
I have got 10 days in Zanzibar and am hoping to stay the last night in Emerson and Green in Stone town and then split my stay in Zanzibar between two places. Others have said it is overpriced and that theb Dhow palace is much better.
Many thanks chris

Although pricey, I think the Palms Zanzibar looks incredible.

I will be spending three nights at the Palms at this time next month. I leave in exactly 9 days, 3 hours and 2 minutes for a wonderful Tanzania safari, followed by 5 nights in Zanzibar, followed by a couple nights in Amsterdam and a couple nights in Paris! :)

Regarding your questions -

Breezes is great if you know what you're getting yourself into. It's a medium size resort style hotel with ok food and service. It can feel average after small, well run safari lodges. It's great value for money and I recommend it a lot but bear the above in mind.

Whether it will suit might depend on the lodges/camps where you are staying on safari.

Emerson and Green isn't everyone's cup of tea since it's quirky. Some love their rooftop supper others hate it. I'm going to leave strong opinions on this to others and you might search for it as I think it's been debated a fair bit.

I am staying in Bluebay next month. We wanted someplace with a dive shop on-site for diving to Mnemba Atoll. We got the Sultan's Suite which comes with its own butler dressed in traditional robes & a private beach area.
I also picked up a great book called Memoirs of an Arabian Princess. Take a look at it on Amazon. Just got it and flipped through it. Looks like a wonderful read.
