Zambia slashes visa fees
As usual, the information is about as clear as mud, but it seems the gov't has cut the UK prices more then 1/2- nothing mentioned on USA, and the day tripper pass is reinstated at $20.

With our new President Elect, there should be NO visa fee for USA residents!!!

I was in Zambia last month. As a U.S. citizen, I was expecting to pay $135 for a visa at the Lusaka airport. While the two immigration officials (one man, one woman) were examining my passport, I was counting out $135 onto the counter top. I heard the woman say to the man "He's ready to pay." I had been in Zambia very briefly (2 days, just passing through) back in October 2007, and the man pointed out my entry stamp from then and said "You can save your money. This visa is good for three years." I was very pleased to have saved $135, and delighted that the gentleman behind the counter had treated me honestly and passed up an opportunity to take home a little bonus, even though his colleague was perhaps of a different mind.

Right after I fork out the big $135! Thanks for the info.

Sorry Lynn- shall I talk to Minister Kaingu and ask him to give you a partial refund??
And the Day Tripper is supposed to be back at $20. That should make the Livingstone operators happy. |
RickMck, I just noticed it was you who posted the response. Welcome back. Nice story. You are $135 toward your next adventure.
LuangwaBlondes, He can keep my fraction of $135, but tell him not to let the Zambian camps all go way upscale and spa-filled. |
Lynn
I'll pass that message on the next time I see him. :-) |
