Travel to Ghana

I am a 37 r. old swf and would like to go to Ghana. Can anyone tell me if independent travel to Ghana for a woman is safe? If anyone can give me any info on their travels to this country it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I went to Ghana for 10 days on business. I think it is one of the safer countries to travel around. I didn't get hassled at all. You will have people bugging you to buy their things, but that is because you are a westerner - not because you are a woman.

I would recommend a few days in Accra and the rest of the time going to the Cape Coast and Kumasi.

Food is very good and people are friendly. Be sure to use lots of mosquito repellent!

I was just there Dec 2003/Jan 2004 and had absolutely no problems being female and traveling alone. Will return in winter 2004/2005. Great place...great people...rich in history!
