Your safari pictures

So many of you travel to Africa. Maybe one day I will too.
Anyone would like to share your own pictures you took on safari?
Thanks

These are mine from my 2001 trip to Namibia and Botswana:

Kavey's were the first safari pictures I had ever seen. Hers really made me want to go and I just looked at them again and guess what - they still make me want to go! I love the desert images.

Mine were taken Aug2003 in RSA and Botswana.

Sundowner,

What stunning photos! I dream of just seeing sites like this leave alone being able to photograph them. We're off to Botswana in June with a new digital SLR. If I can get even one or two photos that are as good as yours I'll be really pleased. The local birds are fed up with me stalking them as I try and get used to the new camera.

z: I am not nearly as computer savy as Kavey, but I do have some albums of Kenya and Tanzania that I would be willing to share. If you email me at [email protected], I will send them to you. They are of our 2002 trip.

sandi Feb 16th, 2004 12:29 PM

z - Like SusanLynne, I too am still in the world of 35mm, and not yet ready for digital. But my albums of Kenya; Kenya, Tanzania & The Seychelles; and South Africa, Vic Falls & Chobe are also available. If interested email your address to

[email protected]

reference the photos and I'll send them on to you.

Kavey - Looked at your photos again and even if "dark" they are great. Love Dune 45 and the birds in Botswana - wow, the colors are amazing. Thanks for the repeat posting your site.

nkh Feb 16th, 2004 01:32 PM

Some of our photos - those from Tanzania this past June - are posted on our website at www3.sympatico.ca/thaynes. Commentary and photos of Kenya will follow when we get time.

I spent hours looking at your pictures. Thank you for sharing them with me.

Kavey
Scenery simply amazed me. Red soil/rocks/sand add some mystery. I realized there is more to Africa then safari. Love each of them

Sundowner
What a great selection. Love all close up shots of elephants. How many did you see?

nkh
So many great pictures and you both are so young. Shots of lions are beautiful

Thanks again and hope to see more pictures from SusanLynne and Sandi soon.

Oh mine were all taken on film camera too - then printed as normal and then I scanned the prints (not the negs) on an old flatbed scanner to make digital copies - hence the colour being off and quality low.

I'm glad others enjoy them though. I look through the (physical) album often.

I enjoyed looking at the other albums here again too... THANKS

Sandi, I saw all your Kenya pictures. Thank you for sending them my way. Loved your picture of you and your husband with Boran Woman and ...Well, I love all of them. Where is Thompson Falls?

DumaSafari Feb 18th, 2004 08:04 AM

Here are some photos from a friend who visited Tanzania...

Okay, I will play along too. Here are my photos from my 2002 trip to Singita (Sabi Sand) and Matetsi Water Lodge (Zimbabwe) and my 2003 trip to Djuma Vuyatela (Sabi Sand) and Kafunta (South Luangwa, Zambia):

Wow, I've been on lots of safaris and have never been lucky enough to see an aardvark (like Sundowner) or a bat or giant millipede (like Roccco). I keep going on safari in hopes of seeing new things, but that aardvark, and the pangolin, are high on my list. I think I've seen almost every other rare animal -- aardwolf, porcupine, mountain gorilla, african wild cat, bat eared fox, civet, white and black rhino, great white shark, wild dog. But there are just so many animals out there.

OK< I think I've downloades several photos from our trip to the Galapagos in December. This was my first trip with both a digital and SLR camera, so all of my Africa photos are prints.

Kavey - Glad to hear there are still a few of us 35mm users (SusanLynne also) left. Like you I have my photos in albums and really enjoy looking thru these often.

And like you I scanned the original photos (from all my trips) into the AOL Picture Finder (actually a Kodak program) and have my albums on line there instead of with ofoto. If I hadn't deleted the photos after compiling the albums I could have uploaded them to ofoto.

Instead I simply send the photos to whomever requests - it would have been easier to have those interested to access as their time allowed - but, hey, will do that the next trip.

z:

If you aren't tired of looking at pictures you may try the ones I just uploaded:
