I am topping my own post hoping to get some reply. What do you think of the choice of camps proposed to us for September 2008?
Lebala , Little kwara and Nxabega
or
Duma tau combined with 2 of the others or Chitabe?
Thanks for your opinion! Ivee

Ivee,

Lebala is always a great choice!!! Dumatau, i would think would be similar ......

LK is a mixed land and water camp!
Chitabe is a land camp - both of these camps offer good game viewing.

Nxabega - Try to find, Rizzuto's trip report from last year. I think he enjoyed himself there!

We went to Lebala and Nxebega last November--loved Lebala as so many do, and thought Nxebega was pretty, saw leopard there and some lovely birds, and did some fishing--but, perhaps because there were so few people there--and because it just didn't have the energy of Lebala, we enjoyed ourselves but didn't fall in love with it. I remember Rizzuto really enjoying himself there though.

How many days do you have? I would not spend less than 3 nights at any of the camps.

Do you want some water activities or are those unimportant?

My vote, not knowing the answers to the above:

Chitabe, Little Kwara, Lebala

Thanks to everyone so far. I received a quote now and would like your opinion whether it is a fair deal or not. The quote includes all transfers etc except the joburg Maun and the international flight from Europe to Joburg:
1)one night in a lodge in Maun followed by 3 x 3 nights: Little Kwara, Lebala and Nxabega : 8233 USD Per person ,considering we are 4 people - 2 couples - travelling together.

2) idem one night in Maun followed by 3 x 3 nights in:
Little Kwara, Sandibe and Duma Tau :9088 USD per person

As ofcourse as everyone knows it is such an expensive trip and I really would like to know if this is a good proposition before sepnding so much money! Thank you! Ivee

I did enjoy Nxabega a great deal, but in very large part to the fantastic rapport that developed between my guide, Gee, and myself. I also enjoyed the setting of the camp -- my tent overlooked a marsh where the sweet sound of bell frogs rang out all night.

The wildlife viewing was ok: neither extraordinary nor disappointing.
