Which guides at Selinda, Seba and Kwando Lebala?
 

Hi all,

We will be visiting Selinda, Seba and Kwando Lebala soon- we leave in 10 days! (yeah!)

If any of you have good recommendations on guides to ask for at these camps we would really appreciate it. We are more interested in elephant and cats and less in wild dogs (I know, I know, they are a big thing for some people on this board, but we have had guides in the past who insisted on spending the whole drive tracking them and we wanted to see other things. And yes, we were alone in the vehicle!)

Thanks for any help you can offer. We have found that the right guide has a huge impact on the experience.

At Lebala, Spencer is great. Also Charles.

Or even Vundi at Lebala ...... if the other two are busy. They are all top notch guides and that's what makes them a great camp .......

Selinda .... BB or Motsamai or OB. Kanawe is their senior most guide on the concession, but, is concentrating on their walking trails at the moment. All of these guides mentioned here are very good .....

Mellisa, i wish you post a brief report when you return from your safari ......

We recently returned from Seba, Vumbura Plains and Savute Elephant Camp.

Our guide was Boyce (?). He was excellent, very friendly and great company.

Craigy. I am looking for info on SEBA, how did it compare to the others that you stayed at and why did you opt for it?

Yes, I will do my best to post a prompt response...I never did get around to posting about Kaingo and Chichele the last time but promise to make a real effort this time! (Esp. as so many people want to hear about Seba and so few have gone there).

I second the suggestions for Lebala.
Thabo is another good guide at Lebala with a nice sense of humour.

mkhonzo. Seba was our first camp and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a small camp (only 5 tents) and when we were there there was only up to 6 guests, so the service and attention from the staff was excellent. Special mention to Biloo (?) the camp manager, who was excellent company and a great host.

We arrived at Seba with no luggage (BA had left it in London), but we were given a loan of shirts, T shirts and trousers which was much appreciated.

The game viewing at Seba was excellent. This was our first safari and we were delighted with the animals and birds which we saw - including 2 leopard which we spent a couple of hours looking for (very worthwhile). There was also animals wandering through the camp at all hours of the day including elephant, baboons and impala. As I said earlier, Boyce was an excellent guide and was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna.

Seba was less luxurious than Vumbura Plains and Savute, but the accomodation and food was still of a very high standard.

Thanks everyone. I have sent a message to our TA to request these people if at all possible (i.e. if they are not hired as private guides, etc).
