Hi Phernska

I went to Walvis Bay (1 night) and Little Ongava (3 nights) in October 2003. At Walvis Bay I saw 10-20.000 Flamingos in Town and just south of Town. Ongava drives (4) provided 4 sightings of white Rhino and 2 sightings of Black Rhino. The water hole in front of camp provided 3 Black Rhino sightings and 2 drives to Etosha provided 1 Black Rhino sighting

Johan, Did you actually stay at the Palmwag Rhino Camp? Can you tell me anything about it or the land around it? I'm also curious about tracking the rhino on foot. When there are fewer predators, rhinos seem to behave a lot more like cattle. At Mala Mala, they were aggressive and wild. Ha ha, I'm no scientist, but I'm wondering whether the relative lack of predators is why one can safely walk near to rhinos in Namibia. I also wondered what other activities would be offered in that area. Thanks for any insight!

Johan's suggestions for tz are wonderful. do not miss Mahale -- one of africa's great thrills! The tented camp is seasonal, I think.

Johan,

When will you be a Wolvadans? I'll be at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge until about August 10. Have you ever done a trek with Tok Tokkie Trails ( http://www.namibweb.com/tok.htm)? If not, you should consider it they are excellent. Enjoy your trip.
