Where to go after visit to Uganda in late March/early April

My husband and I will be visiting our son in Kampala, Uganda in late March/early April. We plan to visit Murchison Falls and Kidepo National Park while there. We recognize that it's rainy season in east Africa, so we'd like to do another week somewhere in Africa afterwards, and are looking for ideas. We've thought of Namibia and/or Capetown, SA. Other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Kathy,

My advice is indeed to head far south. I was in Kenya on the Mara last March and the rains started early. It was pure misery for getting around and we in fact skipped several game drives for rain. The rainy season in Southern Africa is wrapping up in late Feb/early Mar so you should be OK and April is an absolutely stunning month to be there.

I suggest flying from Entebbe to Jo'burg on SAA and then continuing onward to Cape Town the same day. There is an early morning flight on SAA several times per week. In fact, it is so early you could actually go to a private reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park and be there in time for the afternoon game drive that day if you did not want to go to Cape Town right away. The Entebbe flight gets into JNB at 1030am and the last Fedair flight to Kruger Sabi Sands area leaves at 1230. A bit tight, but doable.

If you do go to Cape Town you would arrive in the city in time to have your hotel room ready and relax. This is actually what I suggest. When you are done in Cape Town you can fly non-stop to one of the three airports servicing the Kruger private reserves and finish the trip with a three day safari. The airport codes are HDS, MQP, and SZK.

The hotels and lodges will depend on your budget!

Cheers.
