Where in the world does your BB work?

Where has your BlackBerry worked (or not worked)? I am looking for a good excuse NOT to take mine to Tanzania (incl. Zanzibar) and Kenya.
Thanks
Jess

Will be taking my BB with me to Zambia.
My Better Beamer that is ;-)
It's held the BB acronym long before Blackberry came along :-P

Cheers
Marc

True...and Brigitte Bardot -- you should take her, too.

Not a BB but my guide received cell phone call confirming Chinese food delivery on our way down Mt. Kilimanjaro!

Mine works in SA, but I tell my boss I'm in the bush and so no cell phone signal. I refuse to look at e-mail even when I'm at the airport. I take mine along, because its my phone and works everywhere I've been.

My blackberry phone worked in Tanzania but email didn't. Neither phone nor email worked in Rwanda. Both phone and email were functional in the Nairobi airport, which was a great relief as I was stuck there for 8 hours!

Well a good excuse not to take it is that you are on holiday, on safari. Leave it at home. Enjoy getting back to nature, the real world will intrude soon enough!

My travelmate on our recent trip to Botswana & Zambia took her crackberry (they are addictive little devices) cause her boss had asked her to see if it worked in the wilds of Africa. She tried email & internet at several locations along our journey, but besides Joberg, it didn't work anywhere else.

Granted this was not in Kenya or Tanzania, but I would find any excuse not to take my cell or crackberry with me on safari.

I would take it but tell everyone at work that you are not taking it. And you don't have to turn it on. But our BBs proved to be extremely helpful in Peru when a family member had to be hospitalized. Cell service was intermittant, but we could get email/text messages to each other easily. It made it a lot easier for those at the hospital to keep in touch with those waiting at the hotel, coordinate the rescheduling of travel plans, and update her family back in the states. I had signed up for international email service before I left and cancelled it when I got back because it's not cheap.

What about Namibia? Anyone have email service there?
