Waaaaah! This is the first time in about a decade that I have reached February with ZERO travel plans for the year yet. Have been discussing Africa (have a friend living in South Africa so maybe there and then either Zambia or Botswana), as well as Provence, and the British Virgin Islands, but can't make any reservations for any of these until we know for sure what DH's job situation is, when we can take vacation time, and how much we'll have to play with. So for now we are stuck in the "research & dream" phase. For now I'm living vicariously through the rest of you!

Johan,

Thanks for your additional comments. I will look into the balloon ride in Sossusvlei. We have previously visited this area on our first trip to Africa 3 years ago, altho most of our time was spent in Botswana and we ended in Cape Town. My spouse did the hot air balloon ride but I did not, but I will definitely see if this is possible. I was told I missed out on a great experience.

LyndaS,

Thanks for the tip on the restaurant in Swakopmund. I'm a fan of chicken.

Lisa,

Well, you had better get with the program!

Given that you have waited this long, you may want to consider waiting until late November/early December to realize some great savings at places like Kwando, Islands In Africa camps in Namibia (in the Caprivi Strip, not far at all from Kwando and from Victoria Falls), as well as Zambia. If you wanted Lower Zambezi, however, you would have to get in and out by about November 15th, while the great pricing at Kwando and Islands Of Africa starts on December 01st. You are just going to have to spend a week in the Lower Zambezi, fly up to South Luangwa for two weeks and then spend two more weeks at Kwando and Islands In Africa!

www.islandsinafrica.com (at least when comparing it to the color brochure, the website does not do it justice)

Hi Lynda - it's good hearing about the good snorkeling at St. Anne Park. We'll be there on our first day on the catamaran. If you like good snork. go to Bora Bora - so far it's been the best.
6 days to blast off

AmyH:

If you have not booked rooms in London yet, a search on Orbitz shows best values appear to be the Marriott London Maida Vale in London or the Sheraton Skyline next to Heathrow Airport as the best values (about $220 per night). Have not stayed at either, but will be staying at the Sheraton in August.

Good luck,

Kevin

aby- Thanks. Hiking ololokwe is something we want to do.
Kevin- I will look at the Marriot in maida Vaile. we don't need to be near the aiport b/c we have a night flight from London to Nairobi. Gives us all day to play in the city.
Matnikstyn - curious, since you did not mean to go for the Thistle Arch, what were you aiming for?
