What to do in Johannesburg?

I will be staying at an airport hotel on a Saturday early in September. I need to spend a day and night before departing to Livingstone. What might be a good way to see Johannesburg? Are there day tours departing from airport hotels?

I found myself in that situation once due to a travel delay and had several options from the airport hotel I was staying at. Don't remember which hotel, but wasn't a fancy because the airline was paying for it.

I did a tour of Soweto that was great. I'd suggest contacting the hotel in advance.

I second the idea of doing the Soweto tour, topped off with lunch and a couple beers at Wandie's Place in Soweto. :)

Rocco's suggestion is excellent. An afternoon in Soweto and time at Wandie's is a great way to get another sense of Africa.

Hi

My wife and I went to Joburg in December 2004. I have posted a trip report with pictures on my personal homepage http://gardkarlsen.com :-) Maybe you can find some useful information there. I enjoyed the tour of Consitution Hill, the Apartheid museum and the trip to Soweto.
