What to do in Cape Town in July?

We are going to be in Cape Town for three days at the end of our safari in July. Our travel agent has arranged for us to have a car and driver/guide to take us out to the Cape Peninsula, to the Winelands, and to a township. I have heard that it will be cold and rainy there at this time of year. What else would you recommend that we do to really get a feel for the city?

I am sure your guide will take you to most places in the city - eg. the waterfront, camps bay, the drive to hout bay. Muizenberg along Sea Point beach front and Clifton. The old Malay quarters. Evidently the casino is worth a visit with all the activities around it. Century city and Canal Walk. Drive out past Milnerton to Blouberg Strand. If you have a clear calm day take a trip up the Cablecar to the top of Table Mountain. Go to Robben Island which is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. There is soooo much to do and 3 days is not much time. The District Six Museum is one of many good museums.
You may be lucky and strike good weather.

I spent 3 1/2 days in CapeTown after my safari, stayed downtown at the St. Georges Hotel, you can walk everywhere in the city and are across from the train station. It's not safe at night to walk, but a cab will take you to the waterfront. Three days is just not enough time for that fascinating city.

Hi, we have been 6 times in capetown during the past 10 years. It could be raining in december too. The city, the winelands, the waterfront shoppingmall -it is such a lot to see and do. Weather is always a bit of luck. Enjoy this beautiful country.
Regards from Vienna
