Dear Fodorites,

Cheers,

I'm sending this to the top, because I'd like to know also, especially good value ones.

"BEST" in what regard?

Best lodge/room?
Best food?
Best vehicles?
Best guides?
Best game drives?
Best for seeing lions, or leopards, or elephants, or birds, or ????
Best bang for the $$$$ cost?
We need a score card.
regards - tom

I will premise this with the fact that watching wildlife interaction is my number one goal of Africa travel...not into the culture...so with that being said I love Mombo, Duba plains, Chitabe and Savute--all run by wilderness safari..I also love Zimbabwe, and keep going back...Makalolo, Mana pools...again Wilderness safari camps...have tried other camps but keep going back to wilderness...tehy seem to get the best concession areas...also love Mala Mala in south africa...everyone wants to claim it is liek a zoo, but when I can take a neophyte to Africa and in three days they have seen rhino, hung out with leopards, lions, it is not a bad palce to start

Cary999,

I was thinking more in the line of an all round experience... Game viewing being the main objective.

Thanks,

JP

Hi

I have only been to Djuma Vuyatela in South Africa (see my trip report on http://gardkarlsen.com/djuma_vuyatela_safari.htm ) and that was lovely. It was expensive but it was amazing to get that close to the animals. I hope that I can do it again some day and maybe try out another place to compare the experience

Regards
