Getting from Italy to Egypt in August - any ideas for cheap flights?
My husband and I are combining a trip to Egypt with a trip to Italy (we couldn't agree on a summer destination so we decided to do both). We need to fly from Venice to Cairo on 8/17 and from Cairo to Rome on 8/24. On Orbitz we are finding $612 for a flight on Lufthansa/EgyptAir that we can't even book because we don't have access to an EgyptAir booking outlet. The next best is about $650 on Alitalia. Any advice you may have would be great. Thanks.

Hello,
Take a look at Alitalia -- they have relatively cheap flights from Milan or Rome to Cairo. I booked a flight from London via Milan for about $400, but it would have been closer to $200 if I hadn't needed the London-Milan leg.
Cheers,
Julian

Oops...I see you already took a look at Alitalia.
It might be less expensive to take the train to Milan or Rome and get a flight out of there rather than one out of Venice, as flights out of Venice (to any destination) tend to be more expensive in my experience. A return flight Rome-Cairo-Rome will probably be your least expensive option.
Cheers,
Julian
