Weather, location for safari

We're planning a family adventure for the year 2000. Our family of 4 (kids 12 & 15) would like to spend 14-18 days in southern Africa, experiencing the wildlife, scenery and culture. We're thinking of spending time in Botswana (Chobe), Zimbabwe (Vic Falls) and Namibia (Kalihari...maybe even the Skeleton coast). Is September a good time of year? We've done some investigating on the net, but only have anough info to be dangerous.

We want to spend most of the time camping, and think maybe our first trip to Africa should be with a guided safari. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Rusty
