Weather in South Africa
 

We are going to be in South Africa in September , arriving on the 9th in Capetown...5 days in CPT, then the wine country for 2 days , 3 nights at Sabi Sands( staying at the Bush Lodge), 2 nights at Jo'burg and then 3 nights at Victoria Falls..leaving SA on the 21st Sept.
My questions are weather and feedback on the Bush Lodge. Would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance

I was just at Simbambili about last September 15th, so exactly the same time as your visit. There should be warm (but not hot) days and cool mornings and nights. There will be times when it will be a bit chilly (not freezing like June/July/August) and a jacket would be recommended.

Although your question pertains to the Sabi Sand, you should definitely also be prepared for cool weather in Cape Town and the wine country. Early September has not yet heated up much in Cape Town...also, don't be surprised if you get a couple days of rain as I believe I did last September.

When you say "Bush Lodge" do you mean Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge, Djuma Bush Lodge or anothe rBush Lodge entirely?

Any thoughts on the weather in Capetown in July? We are trying to plan a big trip somewhere (has to be in July) and would love to visit south africa but have heard it will be cold/rainy. Thanks a lot for any/all feedback!

There's more to South Africa than Cape Town. And it's only the Western Cape that has a "Mediterranian" climate, with rain in Winter.

We were in Capetown in late July and had very nice weather. Although we had been warned about the possibility of rains and wind at that time of year, we had sunny days and mild temperatures for our 4 day stay.

You'll find temperature and rainfall records for the major cities under SA REGIONAL/Data archives. Although only up to 2002. But looking at a few years should give you an idea. I haven't looked recently, but I'm willing to bet that it could vary significantly year to year. I think even locals will hestitate to forecast with any confidence.

Hmm. I've just tried to drill down one more level and I get server errors. Hopefully not permanent. I haven't used the site for a very long time but I used to find it very useful when I needed it.

There's also the official site www.weathersa.co.za. I also haven't tried to use that for a long time, but when I did it didn't seem to include any historical data. Perhaps that's changed, the home page looks a newer design from what I remember.
