Just back from Egypt

My wife and I just returned from a 10-day trip that included a Nile cruise. It was my
3rd trip to Egypt and my wife's trip of a
lifetime.

We spent 2 days in Cairo, flew to Abu Simbel,
and cruised to Kom Ombo, Edfu, Esna, and
Luxor.

Cruise: Nabilla's Queen of Sheba
Cairo: Cairo Sheraton
Company: GWT, Inc (Naggar is rep in Egypt)

Except for a guide in Cairo who made too many
shopping stops, it was great.

We spent our nights on the sundeck watching
rural Egyptian life and the stars...very
relaxing.

We were at the tail end of off-season...can't
imagine being there during high-season. There
are just too many people already.

Anyone who wants the road from Aswan to
Abu Simbel opened (dumping 4000 people a day
at Abu Simbel) might want to think again. The
crowds at Abu Simbel were already some of the
worst. Crowds had room to spread out in other places like Valley of Kings & Queens.
Fight for a ticket (cost $33) to Nerfertari's
tomb...it is the best now open. I saw Seti I
(considered the absolute best tomb) and Rames
II in the 70's but both are now closed.
Sheraton is on an island in the middle of the Nile. Lovely views and good food, casino. As to your 13 year old son, Egyptians love children and your son will be welcome any place day or night. Even at the nightclubs. So don't hesitate to include him in everything. We lived there for 10 years and our kids loved it. Alexandria will be quite cool at Christmas, so be sure and have warm socks and sweaters/jackets.

We will be going with a group to Egypt the end of February and I could never find any info on the Queen Nabila. Is this the boat you cruised with and if so, how was it? Thank you

Nabila has several boats; ours was
actually one of the older ones...well
kept, but a little worn with a few less
amenities.
