water temperature in sharm el sheikh in dec/jan

Hello all,

We are thinking of spending 3-4 days in Sharm El Sheikh towards the end of Dec. We were hoping to do some water activities, such as snorkeling and diving. I was wondering what the water temperature is like around then. Do people even hang out by the beach then? Any idea?

thanks!

I would love to know the answer to this as well. Our family will be there just after the New Year. Our tour company assures us the water will be warm enough, but I would like to hear it from someone who has actually been IN it at that time of year.

We were in Sharm the 3rd week of November, last year. It was warm enough to sunbathe and you could go in the water, but it was cold. My husband went on 2 snorkling trips and was in the water for an hour each time, but with a short wet suit. He said it was fine with the suit. In December you might need a full wet suit.

The sun set very early. By 3:30 the beach was about over. At night they had heaters on for the outdoor restaurants.

We were just in Sharm. Most snorklers wore wet suits. We did not, but lasted in the water about 30 mins with no problem.

Check out a great table at http://www.redseadives.com/lor-info.phtml

Looks like December/January will be 72-73F, surface. That's full wetwuit weather for me!
