Visas , Cancellation Insurance for Land Tours

HI there everyone,
I need some guidance about Visas. I will be flying into Nairobi, then down to Arusha, spending about a week in Tanzania, and then flying back to Kenya for about 5 days. Is it to get a Visa here (Canada) or pay for it when I arrive? How much are Visas for both Kenya and Tanzania.

When booking land tours,do you purchase cancellation insurance from your own Country? One company I"m looking into doesn't offer 100% refund for emergencies/cancellation.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I can only comment on US passport holders, so I'd check the Kenyan and Tanzanian tourism websites, for specifics, as a Canadian citizen - price for Visas and whether you can obtain upon arrival.

As to trip insurance, it's suggested you purchase it in your own country before departing. You can check:
www.insuremytrip.com

where you will find a number of plans for comprehensive plans including cancellation/interruption including baggage delays, lost baggage, medical, evacuation, etc. Or you can choose only medical, and separate for evacuation. All policies are offered by well-known providers.

I don't believe any company provides full 100% refund, unless you meet or the situation qualifies in certain cases. Regardless, you have to check more than one provider, read the policies in detail online... you also have, I believe, 30-days to read the exact policy upon receipt... if you decline, you can get a full refund.

Hope this helps.

Some of Travel Guard's policies are 100% refund.

We are dealing with a similar situation regarding our trip to Kenya and Tanzania. We have had success with www.insuremytrip.ca - which handles cancellation insurance, trip interruption, etc from a Canadian source.

As for Visa information here is the link to the Kenya Embassy in Ottawa
where you can download the application from their site:
http://www.kenyahighcommission.ca/

The Tanzania Embassy in Ottawa can be contacted at 50 Range Road, Ottawa, Ontario KIN 8J4, Canada or via Telephone (613) 232-1509 or E-mail: [email protected]

Hope this helps.
