Visa Requirements

I am planning a trip to the Victoria Falls area and plan on flying into Victoria Falls airport, which is in Zimbabwe and staying in Zambia for lodging.

What visas my I required to get for a US citizen? I have been told that you can get the Zimbabwe visas at the VFA airport. The Zambia visa is granted if you stay at one of their establishments.

Just wanted to confirm with someone that has done it.

Yeah Zimbabwe visa is very easy to do. You land and present your passport to the authorities at the airport (two guys at a table) give them your 30.00 USA dollars, one writes it up the other puts the visa in your passport. Took us about 10 minutes or so depending on the amount of ppl getting off the plane.

Below a link to a site with VISA (and other usefull info) for countries around the world:

http://projectvisa.com/

can be most useful. But best to contact specific Embassies or Consular offices for changes, such as Visa fees.

Note if departing the VFA airport (returning to JNB), there is a Departure Fee of US$20.

If your hotel/tour in Zambia is prepaid your hotel/ tour operator should be able to provide you with a letter stating this...and the letter means no visa fee when entering Zambia. However if you just have reservations and are paying on-site, you will need to pay a visa fee (think it's $25 per person or so) but the lines move very fast...

Also, remember that you will need cash to pay airport departure fees/ taxes in both Zambia and Zim. Make sure you save enough cash for this ...it is $20 per person on the Zambia side as well.

Is the Zambian visa fee applicable to foot traffic crossing from the Zimbabwean side to view and take pictures of the Falls from the Zambian side?

The fee for the day-pass is US$5 to cross between Zam to Zim to view/photo the Falls
