Vaccinations, shots and meds

We will be going to Tanzania in August with OAT. What shots are a MUST and what meds are suggested? Also, how cool can we expect the temps to be? Do we need winter clothes? Living in Florida we do not have a big selection.

Quick answer:

You do not need any additional shots but malaria meds are highly recommended.

I would take a light weight polartec shirt and/or light jacket. You do not need any winter clothes, even at the crater rim. But sometimes the rim can be nippy.

Hello,

I wouldn't necessarily say that you don't need any shots. Many adults tend to let their standard immunisations for things like polio, tetanus, and diptheria lapse, and these are important to have when you travel to any developing country. So while you may not need any Africa-specific shots you may need to 'top up' your existing ones.

Cheers,
Julian

Completely agree with Julian. Not to mention, most Americans don't have Hep A and B, which I think is important for everybody traveling outside the US. Hell, I think it's important even if you never leave the US.

Btw, where do you live in FL? I might be able to recommend a good travel clinic/doctor for you.
