Useful Africa-related websites - URL listing

Here are some of my favourite Africa-related bookmarks.

If anyone else has any useful ones to share please post…

Many of these are the sites of alternative operators (which I don’t intend to use) and I refer to the sites as information resources or just because I like looking at the photos!

(I use Wilderness Safaris through Sunvil Africa in the UK).

In response to an email I have received:

The list above is very much a personally compiled list of sites which have interested me - it's not in any way an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all sites on travel to Africa.

I have looked at the site for your company which you noted that I had excluded from my list and find that it is not one I would naturally have bookmarked so I will not be adding it to my own list above, however perhaps one of your customers will add it to this thread within their own recommendations.

I would like to encourage other Fodorites to please add to the list with sites they have found useful, interesting and appealing.

Take care, and hope you're doing well.

RnR my email box might have been full... best to send one at a time and let me email you back once I've got it, saved it out of hotmail and deleted it to make room for the next one.

Before this thread gets lost forever I wanted to add these two great links that were provided to me by others:
www.mtbeds.co.za (very deeply discounted lodging, game reserves and packages from South Africa to Botswana, Tanzania, Namibia and Zambia)
www.kulula.com (cheap airfare between Cape Town and Joburg)

Hi Roccco

I asked you a question on another site for the web site that gives better prices for game reserves then the actual reserves itself. Thanx

Patty,

I was probably referring to either
e-gnu.com or mtbeds.co.za. www.mtbeds.co.za has much better pricing the e-gnu.com but I just found another promising website in www.attractiveafrica.com

Check it out and let me know what you think. Good luck.

Here are my latest hot finds:

www.sunair.co.za - Air travel from an alternate airport in Johannesburg area, Lanseria International Airport located 20kms north of Sandton to Cape Town.

I don't know what kind of jet it is, but it looks like it holds about 120+ passengers (possibly a Boeing 737). It has plush, oversized red leather seats and even has inflight massage!

The prices are very competitive with South African Air. It is only 1,999 ZAR (about $245 USD) for a roundtrip flight between Lanseria (Johannesburg) and Cape Town. It looks a lot better than that other airline that was recently mentioned on this board, Air Kulula.

My other new find was a website that, like www.mtbeds.co.za, offers nice discounts on game lodges and more. The web address is:

www.tagasafaris.co.za
